Typos, answer selections are a mess. make sure to read the entire rationale to determine if you answered correctly. the book is a good a&p review though. questions seem a bit easy
I haven't taken this test, only the NCLEX. This seems a bit easy- wish I'd taken it closer to the NCLEX when everything was so fresh.This has a first section which talks about the CCRN- how to schedule it, how much it cost, what to expect, how it is structured, ect. That's vital information to me.The rest of the book is a review of systems and common diseases that can affect them and end a patient in crisis requiring intensive care. There's a big focus on symptoms and diagnostics, and a big emphasis on fluid regulation/oxygen regulation, which makes a lot of sense. It's all well organized, and I really liked how easy the writers made the material seem, even when talking about lap results.I didn't find that it took a lot of time to read- there are excellent graphics and illustrations through the book, and it's just well organized and laid out.The questions have rationales that further explain how the correct answer was derived.It's a great review, and for me, a confidence booster.

What can I say about this study guide. Kaplan does what it does best and that’s make study guides. I like the clear outlines of the chapters, and how they review what you’ve learned. The charts and the pictures actually make sense. I really appreciate it when I’m studying and I don’t have to stare at a chart for over 5 minutes just to try and decipher what the author was trying to tell me. It’s easy to find information when you go searching for it. And most importantly I think that the practice tests have really helped me. I won’t know for sure until I take the test, but my confidence has definitely gone up. I would recommend this book to anyone who want(s) or needs that little extra study time to help push them over that GPA curve.
I'm giving this a five star rating in the sense of "Does the trick" rather than "Lots of fun - let's be sure to do this again." Kaplan has had a major foot in the test prep market for over 30 years now. Well, probably longer than that; I've only known about them for 30 years. I got this as an encouragement gift to a nephew who is just about to finish nursing school and is about to begin cramming for his registration exam. If you have ever used a Kaplan prep book, you know what to expect in terms of the book, practice exams, and online tools. The book won't do the work for you, but it will help organize better the materials that you will need to master to be able to pass your exam.

This book is a study guide for CCRN exam, an advanced certification for registered nurses to provide critical care or acute care. The book is not really intended for self study but as a set of sample tests to support a nurse about to take the CCRN exam. It's packed with a lot of information but it's intended to support a very specific exam for a course you are already taking. It's not a home health guide.
This is a great help. In addition to the practice tests, I found the coverage of material to be exemplary. Best of all were the score-raising strategies for the CCRN. Recommended!
