This was the perfect book for us, at the perfect time! Our 11-year-old son has been in competitive swimming since he was 6. Despite being really, really small, he's quite fast. Because of his size we have always fed him a really high protein diet thinking he needed it for muscle and strength. Even on meet mornings he would eat 2 eggs, 2 meats, a carb, and a fruit. So many people heard this and looked at us like we were strange, and now we know why. He's also ADHD, so we give him very little sugar and caffeine.We knew we needed to research and make some changes this season, and this book has been so helpful. The author wanted it to be easy to read and relate to... not a scientific journal. She succeeded. I've read it, and my husband has read it. This weekend our son read the basics of every chapter and made highlights. My husband and I are now going to highlight things. The fact that our family will all be on the same page is so positive. Because our son has read it, he knows that when we give him choices and plan things out, they aren't just coming from his parents... they are coming from the lady who wrote the book EAT RIGHT, SWIM FASTER.

Great book for beginners trying to set a routine of consistent swimming. It was exactly what I was looking for--which was a starting place. She gives ideas of what to eat before, during, and after swimming and when to eat. This helped because I've never been good at knowing what to eat before or after practice. Includes the importance of hydration among other things.

That ways it explained the importance of proper and adequate nutrition for swimmers.

I have read the book and there are good ideas how to eat properly. For example what to eat, how much to eat. There are also examples of concrete foods what are good and what are not.Easy readable even you are not nutrition specialist.

I am fortunate to coach along side Abby Knox and have experienced first hand her wealth of knowledge. She is an amazing Coach and any swimmers of ours that cross her path are fortunate indeed. We are so extremely fortunate to not only have her as a coach but to utilize her expertise as a certified Nutritionist. Lucky for us she has worked closely with all our parents so they are educated to know the importance of feeding their swimmers the correct diet. Not only that she educates the chaperones and writes all the menus for our athletes on away meets.Her information is from the most up to date research on nutrition but makes it easy to follow and implement for any swim family. I can assure you that you are getting an amazing book that will most definitely help your child(ren) be their best both in and out of the pool.

The information in the book repeated over and over. Book could be half of it size if not less. Not much new information unless you totally clueless about sports nutrition.
