I love every book I've read by Lysa TerKeurst, but the main reason I purchased this book and the accompanying study guide is that I am on the teaching team for a group that is completing a study of the book. I really didn't expect it to apply to me personally, because after many years of walking with Christ I am not usually bothered with feelings of rejection. Boy, was I wrong! As I've read and studied this book, God has brought up several things that have happened in my past and completed the healing in these areas that He had already begun. Lysa openly shares the struggles she's faced in her own life, beginning with never feeling accepted by her dad, and shows the path to healing of these hurts through our relationship with Jesus Christ. I highly recommend this book, and if you want to dig deeper (especially if you have access to the outstanding videos available for this study), the study guide is also helpful.
I read this book with my book club and then went through the study guide/video series at my church's ladies retreat. This book is SO relate-able! Some of Lysa's real life examples are circumstances that I have faced in my own life. She offers biblical foundations to help her readers choose to enter into situations with the fullness of Christ instead of our own emptiness. The study guide/video series compliments the information in the book and provides thoughtful commentary on the locations throughout the Holy Land where the videos were filmed.
I used this as part of a women's study at my church, and we just finished the series. The author explores life's experiences which shape how we view ourselves, often in contrast to how God sees us. Overall it was a good study, particularly for women who are struggling with self-image, accepting themselves, and letting go of past rejection and disappointment so they can move forward. The daily lessons are short, and Lysa's videos are encouraging. Overall I recommend this study.
If you’ve ever struggled with being insecure, being a people pleaser, & felt rejected... stop reading this and order the book.I’ve read many Christian books that were “goodâ€, but hard to apply to my Life. Not this one! It was so eye opening. Lysa’s honesty was refreshing and really spoke to me.

What helps me with a book is that it comes with a workbook. I like it, it's fun and can better understand the concept. If you are purchasing the book, remember to grab the workbook. If you think you're purchasing the book, DOUBLE CHECK that you are. I made the mistake of purchasing the workbook, which I thought I was buying the book.
This is a must have study. I have the DVD's and the Study Guide and am doing this study with a dozen other women. Each session is about 25/30 minutes long. Lysa is so personable and a great teacher. The study guide opens the door for many interactive discussions which we do every other week so we can stretch this 6 session study into a 12 week study.
In her book Uninvited, Lysa Terkurst helps to see that there is a way to process rejection so that even when we face, we can still live loved in the light of God’s grace. Lysa acknowledges that all of us have or will face rejection at some point in our lives, so that we need to honestly admit when we struggle with it. From many personal stories as well as relevant biblical narratives, Lysa helps us see many aspects of rejection, some that we may have never thought of as part of rejection. But we are reminded that even when it seems like the world has cast us aside, that is not what God is doing to us. He is using the difficulties of our circumstances to set us apart. We are reminded even when rejection seems to run us dry, the Lord can and will fill us up in His time, if we turn to Him. We are also reminded that Jesus chose to take the rejection of mankind onto Himself so that we don’t have to be bound by our circumstances. When we are able to embrace that, then we are able to live loved, even when we face rejection. This book is written in a friendly and relevant tone that anyone can find accessible. Lysa speaks powerfully from the wisdom of her own experience as well as integrating that well with truth from God’s word. I recommend this book to anyone young or old, male or female, especially if you struggle with rejections, past or present. Get your copy today!
