This is the last "Frank Vito Bounty Hunter" book of the series, and I have enjoyed every last one! Thanks to Amazon for putting this author on their list. The main characters are living in an earlier time in our countries history, and the author has written a fine series of books, that bring you back to that era.
Interesting book. It keeps your interest throughout the entire book. Reading about the events in the book as they relate to true history makes it more relevant.
What attract me to Hendrick's writing is his style, way of expressing the events in short, right-on-point sentences, with light sense of humor over the action.
This is a powerful story in which the author lifts a forgotten bit of history to the surface and plunks you right in the middle of it. The New Orleans Lynchings took place in 1891 when 19 Italian immigrants were tried for the murder of David Hennessey, the chief of police.The murder was carried out at the behest of corrupt politicians and no Italians were involved. None of the defendants were convicted, and this angered the instigators. The citizens were agitated into seeing justice done.I have always assumed that a lynching meant a hanging. However, a lynching pertains to any unlawful death at the hands of a mob. This story is frightening, heart-breaking and violent. All the reader can do is hold tight and keep reading. The story is so overwhelming that I am only now mentioning that Frank and Ellie are still on the trail of Bloody Bob Anderson.27
I’ve read a lot of westerns, but this author has written these around actual events in our nations history. They are different than the average western, but a good different that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire book.
