Update: Wonderful and deeply helpful book, highly recommended.Did you purchased this when it was only January-June, and a separate version covered July-December, and are at a loss as to how to get the book in it's entirety? Try going into your Amazon Kindle account under "Manage your content and devices" and select the tab labeled "Settings" , then scroll down and find "Automatic Book Update" (turn this on). Next step, sync your devices. You should now have the entire book January-December. If not contact wso@al-anon.org, they were incredibly kind and helpful with this matter, and I happily have my beloved daily reader back while keeping the convenience of an ebook!
The content of the book is very motivational. However, I thought I was purchasing the whole book. The fact that it is January through June only should be more prominently displayed in the write up. I would have not have purchased if I know it was only 1/2 of the book.
I'm soooo happy to have this daily reader available on my Kindle...but even better it automatically downloads to my phone at no extra cost so it is always available. This book has been a regular companion for the past several years and it's nice to finally see it available as an ebook.
This is part one of the REAL daily reader published by the Al-Anon World Service Group. It's published in two sections. I love finally having this on my kindle account, so I can read it wherever I am on any device I want to. I am amazed how many other books have the same title, so be careful before you click. Being an e-book, there is no index at the end to find keywords (like detachment). But, just type the key word word in the search function of your reader and the page will show. Courage to Change-One Day at a Time in Al‑Anon II: Part 1
it is a wonderfully inspiring day to day book. One thing that is missing is the subject index that is found in the One Day at a Time book. I'm not sure why the editors left it out of this valuable resource. Especially when we use it for meetings to find a theme. maybe they could do an attachment to add inside it.
I have the hardcover version and it's been wonderful reading. I read a page before going in to work on most days and found my days improving with that little bit of perspective.For the life of me I could not get the kindle version to arrive as the fullbook. I initially tried twice and each time it came through as just the first half of the book. I had previously owned the first half version and tried both updating it and deleting it. I discussed with both the publisher and Amazon and gave them time to try to address it before trying a third time. Again it came through as only the first half. Amazon said the publisher hadn't supplied the whole book and the publisher said they had. Something is digitally whacky and I've given up on having a full kindle edition. What worked for others didn't work for me. The hard covered version will do for me.
I'm very umhappy and disappoibted that the Kindle version of this book does not include the topical references index which is so helpful in recovery when one is faced with particular challenges. This version is not the entire content of the printed book. If I had known that, I wouldn't have purchased it.
Kindle version is only half a book. Stops at June 30. :(
